Message from the Director,

India’s multi layered pluralistic society needs a strong, discrimination-free society based on the values of mutual respect, cooperation and coexistence establishing the attributes of liberty and equality. Undoubtedly over the years there has been consistent efforts from all corners of the society towards upliftment of the most marginalized communities, the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes Women and children in the country our society is far away from reaching the goal of equity and equality in terms of dignity and right to opportunities of education, livelihood and expression for all.

Despite significant increases in literacy, livelihood, employment and other attributes, the socially disadvantaged groups of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe populations, continues to aggravate inequalities in educational, employment and asset capabilities between different groups. The vulnerabilities have further amplified by the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic, virtually reducing down the opportunities since March 2020.

Dalit Vikas Abhiyan Samiti (DVAS) has sustained its developmental pace to augment the increased participation of these marginalized communities to promote organic as well as inorganic growth of an individual and the community through increased exposure and development of core competency thereby leading to the development of intrinsic skill and managerial capabilities.

I am privileged to present to you our Annual Report for 2020-2021 in your hands. I take the opportunity to thank the members of the Governing Board, General Body for their strategic inputs, motivation and support in realizing our mission. I would also like to thank our thematic associates without whose support our journey would not be complete, and our donors. Sincere thanks to each one of my colleagues at DVAS without which this achievement was simple not possible for their continued support and cooperation.
